Compared to other towns of a similar size, Shrewsbury’s town centre retail sector has held up surprisingly well, report Pooks Commercial Property Consultants, who deal with a large number of shops for a variety of clients. Nevertheless, there are a number of vacant units and owners are keen to see them re-occupied.

In most cases tenants are not responsible for external repairs so that property costs are further reduced.

Mr Evans continued "the incentives on offer will vary from shop to shop and will also take into account the nature of the prospective tenant, but most property owners are prepared to be realistic and we are advising our clients to be flexible in encouraging take up of empty units".
